A short list of clinical LLT and average speed in which they are achieved. These are only from clinical observations. More profound conditions require larger doses.

True Lasers versus Super-luminous Diodes
There are some misinformed bodies that think that LED’s are as effective as Lasers
True lasers such as the systems manufactured for us focus all of their energy in one direction in a very concentrated line. A super-luminous diode, on the other hand, diffuses its energy in all directions with only a small percentage of the energy travelling in the direction of the treatment. A true laser system will deliver 90% more power to the treatment area than a super luminous diode system of exactly the same power rating.
Oshiro’s studies confirm this fact.
"A laser beam travels only in one direction from source, unlike a light bulb. The resulting (true laser) beam has a considerably higher photon density than a monochromatic beam produced by filtering and collimating a conventional multi-wavelength light source. In in vivo tissue targets, several layers of non-homogenous particulate matter have to be penetrated before the beam can reach the LLLT (Low-Level Laser Therapy) targets, and it is the superior photon density of coherent light which ensures this penetration, even though actual coherence may be lost in the first few cell layers"
We have these so called "Laser" devices which were manufactured in Sri Lanka by a person who has appeared and lectured in this country several times and sold these devices as LASER instruments. They are rubbish consisting of a few LED's which cost only a few cents each ...they were sold to unsuspecting seminar delegates for many hundreds of dollars.

Indications for Low Level Laser
- Acupuncture…. Non Invasive.
Some authorities find it more effective than needles and there is no destruction injury to cells
- Post Traumatic surgery (Nerve root regeneration) 2J
- Treatment of tendon, muscular and neuro muscular injuries
- RSI (early) Chronic pain syndrome (difficult)
- OA /RA 60 /40 pain reduction (Cortisone increase with acu) Usually an increase in strength and mobility
- Acceleration of wound healing (lacerations / contusions).
- Fractures… Obviously NOT through Plaster.
- Sciatica and LBP
- Shoulder contusions frozen shoulder
- Calcium deposits e.g. hyperalgic calcareous tendonitis
- TMJ problems
- Oedema reduction following trauma
- Keloid scar tissue. Decubiti. (Glad Wrap)
- Some skin diseases
- Muscle Overuse syndrome (lactic acid excess) usually 1 treatment.
- Dupuytrens contractures/Carpal Tunnel (early treatment sometimes avoids surgery.) Ht 8 is good here.
- Strains, sprains, Herpes, headaches, trigeminal neuralgia
- Epicondylitis. Post dental pain and so on.
Contra Indications /Precautions
- Overexposure
- Lasers in class 1 –3, 3a, 3bup then use goggles and in room with non reflective surfaces
- Do not point in eye (Lens amplification) lens is designed for diverging light
- In pregnancy and pain of unknown aetiology (very Important)
- Cancerous lesions.
- Acute and wide spread inflammatory conditions / infections
- Do not use on Tattoos
- Cardiac arrest has been reported when device was connected to 240V outlet

- Watch for chest pain / arrhythmia in CV patients when treating appropriate nerve roots in T Spine..... Very rare. (This also could also be a reaction to vasoconstriction)
Some Side Effects Observed
- Tiredness
- Nausea / vomiting. (rare)
- Euphoria
- Sleeplessness
- Treatment reaction
Favourable Attributes
- Non Ionizing LLL is in the WRONG spectrum therefore there are no changes in DNA
- Activates cells to produce favourable reactions. E.g. the production of serotonin, NMLS’s and collagen
- LLLT works well with natural healing philosophies
- It is Non Invasive
- It accelerates the healing process
